Managing Forests for Wildlife
Managing Forests for Wildlife
Tuesday, February 9
6:30-8:00 PM
There are many reasons why Vermonters value our forests – they are beautiful, provide us with clean air, clean water, firewood and maple syrup, amazing recreational opportunities and more. Most Vermonters would also say that our forests are important for their role in providing habitat for our many native wildlife species.
While it may seem like wildlife is everywhere, many of Vermont’s wildlife populations are both recovering from a legacy of poor land management of the past and also facing an uncertain future as a result of climate change, habitat loss, forest fragmentation and many other threats.
Join Ethan Tapper, the Chittenden County Forester, for a virtual presentation on how wildlife use Vermont’s forests, and how we can manage our forests for healthy wildlife. He will discuss the threats facing our forests and the wildlife that rely on them, and how forests can be actively managed to support habitat for the full range of Vermont’s wildlife species.
Bring your questions about wildlife, habitat management, and forestry for a Q & A session after the presentation. Register here.
